PM: I couldn’t keep the bastard, honest

Australia, Politics | Tuesday, March 8th, 2005

Prime Minister John Howard has been reunited with his long-lost son who was adopted out by the PM 43 years ago. Kim Beazley, the on-again off-again leader of the Opposition, was informed on Sunday that the PM is his natural father.

Amazingly the separated father and son have been working together for most of Mr Beazley’s adult life, sometimes within two metres of each other.

Mr Howard confirmed that he was forced to give up “Little Kim” because he did not have the financial capacity to care for the child at the time. There are rumours that this decision was also due to the child being born out of wedlock.

“Kim was born a whopping 25-pound baby and ate us out of house and home on his first day out of hospital,” a candid PM revealed.

“My wife was still walking funny from the birth, so I had to care for Kim, change his diapers, you know,” Mr Howard said. It appears that parliamentary Question Time was not the first time the PM took shit from the Opposition Leader.

“He was just too big. I mean, at birth this kid was bigger than I was. How do you bounce a child on your knee when you can’t even lift him off the ground?” the PM said.

The Opposition Leader has stated that this revelation will not affect his relationship with his adoptive parents but that he is hoping to bond with his natural father over the next few years.

“Dad tells me he will be retiring really soon so that we can catch up on all the years of playing footy in the backyard that we’ve both missed,” Mr Beazley said.

Federal Treasurer Peter Costello has urged the PM to focus on his new family. “The bastards should spend some quality time together,” Mr Costello sneered.

  1. Some twists in politics are predictable, but this one really takes the cake. I hope Kim won’t stop taking the piss out of Little Johnny Boy, because he’s always pissing in our ears too much.
